Card Playing

Packs of cards were the most common forms of property included among the items listed in estate inventories. In 1665 Capt. Jeremiah Fisher owned nine packs while Jonathan Newell owned eight packs. They were residents of York County. As you can surmise, playing cards were broadly used on the plantations for socialization.
