Appomattox Manor

Owned by the Eppes family from 1635 to 1979 at City Point,a peninsula
at the confluence of the Appomattox and James Rivers. British solders
under Benedict Arnold camped here during the Revolutionary War and it
served as the headquarters of General U. S. Grant during the
Petersburg campaign of the War Between the States.
