Wives Imported into the Colony Series: The Ceremony

As year as 1632, the law provided that the marriage ceremony should be performed inside of a church and that it should take place between the hours of eight in the morning and twelve midday. A celebration occurred afterways, with the discharge of gun powder.  Source: Hening's Statues, Vol. I, p. 158.
