Argoll Yeardley

The home of Argoll Yeardley in Northampton County, Virginia contained a hall chamber, a hall, a parlor chamber, two small chambers next to the parlor, with a dairy and kitchen. The partitions in these early homes were first covered with a thick layer of tenacious mud and then whitewashed. Lime was made in large quantities from the oyster shells found in the soil or in the rivers.
