William Byrd

During  the course of four years, William Byrd advanced out of his own pocket #2955 9s. 8d. to cover the deficiences in the revenues in the colony while he served as auditor-general. The inventory of his personal estate was more valuable than the estate of Robert Beverley. However, the inventories of Byrd's estate did not survive in the county records.  Palmer's Calendar of Virginia State Papers, vol. I, page 58.
