Sons of Noblemen Series: Sir Henry Chicheley

Sir Henry Chicheley had served in the royal army before emigrating to the colony of Virginia. He was such a conspicuous adherent of the royal cause that the Puritan Council of State, in granting him a license to emigrate, required him to furnish security that he would do nothing prejudicial in the existing government. Sir Henry was the son of Sir Henry Chicheley and a brother of Sir Thomas Chichely of Wimpole.  Thomas Chicheley owned the home between 1640 and 1670. Pictured is Wimpole Hall,  a manor house begun in 1640, with its 3000 acres is now owned by the National Trust and are open to the public.

Sir Henry Chichely

Sir Henry Chicheley of Wimpole Cambridgeshire arrived in Virginia about 1650. He was married to Agatha, the widow of Ralph Wormeley. VA Magazine of History of Biography Vol. III, page 39.
