1622 School Houses in Virginia

During the spring of 1622, a skilled architect by the name of Leonard Hudson who was to build a school house, accompanied by his wife and five apprentices, left England in the Abigail under the command of Captain Barwick and arrived safely in Virginia.   Source: Institutional History of Virginia in the Seventeenth Century by Philip Alexander Bruce, Volume Zi.
