Englishmen

As late as 1670 Virginians thought of themselves as Englishman. Here is a petition: "Ye Petitioner humbly prays that since the said Biggs hath herein neglected the performance of his duty, unbecoming a good Christian, a loyall subject, and true Englishman..."
